Überlauf the lower targets,
humiliate him greatly.
When the displacement is done,
wind short the point if you are intent.

Here the Master speaks of the tenth chapter, the Überlaufen. [Rep.v.] When you come to the man in the Zufechten and he then strikes at you from below, do not displace it but be aware, when his Unterhau or Halbhau comes at you, then strike from your right shoulder at him. Shoot your point long at his face and set it on him, then he can not reach you below. If he then goes up and displaces, stay on his Messer strongly with the true edge, Indes let your arm go up, wind and hang the point at his face.

Entrüst in the Überlaufen,
wind and raise the pommel.

Here the Master explains how you shall do the Überlaufen with the Messer. [Rep.v.] If he stands in the guard Luginsland, hold your Messer on your right side. Stand with the left foot in front and go close to him with an Entrüsthau to his left side. Indes let the hilt go down and over his Messer to his right side and pull your Messer back on his Messer. Let the hilt go up and drop your left hand to the middle of your Messer. Thrust at his face with an armed hand.

Überlauf with slashing point,
strike the Mordschlag to the head, belly or neck.

Understand it like this. When you have gone over his Messer and pulled your Messer at you as described before, drop your left hand to the middle of your Messer and turn your right hand on your Messer, letting the thumb face up. Strike at his head with the hilt. Indes step with your right foot behind his right, go with your left foot behind him as well and strike at his belly with the hilt and without displacing. Step even further behind him and strike at his neck with the hilt.

If you want to compete in Überlaufen,
seize the neck, learn to push over the leg.

Here the Master explains how you shall do Überlaufen, seize by the neck and throw the man. Go to the man from your right side to his left as before. Indes wind the hilt over his Messer again strongly and come to the aid of your right hand. Let the left hand go to the weak of the edge of your Messer and let it go to his neck on his left side. Push strongly under his neck with the hand or arm, step with your left leg behind his right and push him over it.

Turn your edge,
cut, be agile with the point.
If he wants to wrestle and push,
punt, wring and learn to twitch the weapon.

Here the Master teaches a counter to the verses and pieces described before. First the first four verses, where he speaks of the Entrüsthau. Do the counter like this: If he lets his hilt go over your Messer, upwards and back as described before, and he wants to thrust at your face with the short point and an armed hand, Indes turn your edge above you and against him when he raises his hilt on your Messer, and cut over his hand with the true edge. Push down strongly to his left side.

Another counter. If he lets his hilt go over as before and wants to thrust at your face with an armed point, turn your Messer to your left side, letting the true edge face up. Indes let your point drop to his chest and Indes push him back strongly with the thrust. top
