Don't forget about the cuts,
two below and two above.

Here the Master explains about the cuts and their properties. There are four cuts. The first two are from above. They are to be used against those fencers that leave the bind and strike around to the other opening. This is what the cut counters. If he binds at your Messer with the displacement or another piece on your left side and then strikes around to your right side with an Entrüsthau or another blow, jump with your left foot to his right side out of his range, drop your true edge onto his arm and push him from you with the edge. This you shall do every time he leaves the bind.

If he lies against your ear on your right side as you lie against his Messer from above or below and he wants to strike around to the other opening at your left ear, cut him to the inside of his right arm with the back edge. This is the second cut.

You shall use the other two against those fencers who do the Einlaufen with outstretched arms. Do the cuts like this: If he binds at your Messer with a displacement or otherwise, if he lifts his arm and does the Einlaufen to your left side, turn your Messer to his arm with the thumb facing down and the true edge beneath his cross. Push upwards with the cut.

If he does the Einlaufen to your right side, turn your Messer against his arm with the back edge beneath his cross and the thumb facing down. Push upwards with the cut. These are the four cuts. If you know these, you can use them in any bind.
